Diamond, Ruby & Gold Dolphin Ring by Grosse, Germany, 1969 NWS 1-1509 ~ This wonderful, magical dolphin ring was made and signed by Grosse. It is also marked "1969", the year it was made. Grosse is a mark of the German jewelry company Henkel and Grosse. Located in Pforzheim, Germany, this company has been in business since 1938. Grosse has produced jewelry for Christian Dior since 1955. Grosse also produces jewelry for Burberry. It is a name synonymous with superior quality. I can see that superiority as I turn the ring in my hand. It's almost 40 years old, yet there's no wear that I can detect to the heavy gold plating. ~ Every fin and every fishy scale has been depicted by the artist. His eyes have been set with 2 faux ruby cabochons, and his face is paved with faceted, faux diamonds. ~ The dolphin's body wraps itself around your finger, as his sculpted tail fans out across the top of your finger. I've never seen any ring remotely like this. It's just extraordinary! ~ The ring is a size 5 3/4. It spans approximately 1.25" across the top of my finger, from his mouth to the tip of his tail.
