Givenchy Simulated Diamonds & Faux Gold Necklace & Bracelet Set NWS 9-959 ~ I just love the bold, chic look of Givenchy's designs; smart looking and sophisticated, the woman who wears this set carries herself well and is no "shrinking violet" ~ The bracelet is marked "Givenchy" on an oval plaque on the back; there is the same oval plaque on the reverse of the necklace, but the strike didn't take ~ Each link is numbered on the back: on the bracelet, 4 links, and on the necklace, 9 links ~ The bracelet has the same exact design as the necklace, but is a bit larger in scale, as is correct; also, the links of the necklace lie flat - they don't curve the way the links of the bracelet do (keep reading) ~ On the bracelet, each goldtone metal link is shaped like a half moon, so if you look at it from the side, the links form little arches ~ Each link has another half moon inserted in between the 2 gold-plated links; this link is thickly plated in rhodium, with literally hundreds of pavé-set, sparkling, simulated diamonds in absolutely pristine condition ~ Necklace has a folding clasp and measures 16.5" long and 1 1/8" at the widest, tapering towards the back for comfort; the curve of the necklace is "built-in", so if you pick it up by one end, it doesn't hang down striaght; the links are curved so the necklace sits at a woman's collar bone perfectly. Spectacular. ~ Bracelet also has a folding clasp and measures 6.5" long and 1 1/8" wide c. 1970, in mint condition, and not easy to find a bracelet & necklace still together as a set after all these years Research: European Designer Jewelry, by Ginger Moro, p. 93, shows the same Givenchy necklace, without any stones, valued at $300-400, for the necklace alone (published in 1995). Price = $235.00 Who is Givenchy? |
