Ciner "Stained Glass Window" Collar NWS 8-1477 ~ Can you believe that each and every little diamond shaped segment in this collar has been enameled by hand? Imagine the hours of work! Well, that's Ciner for you,... he took enormous pride in the workmanship and design of his jewelry, so we've come to expect glorious perfection from that name. ~ The base is this necklace is made of thickly plated goldtone metal. The segments are all chained together internally, a trademark construction technique of Ciner. The result is a remarkably flexible, rope-like movement so that it rests at a woman's collar bone perfectly. ~ Each little golden "tile", or segment, has been painted in colors of red, white, green, pale blue, pink, lilac, ocean blue, gold and black. The red and green tiles have been done in a metallic color for a subtle bit of glimmer. The enamel technique is called "champleve", which means that each little diamond shaped segment has high sides, so the molten glass enamel fills the opening. ~ The curve of the necklace is built into the construction, so the measurement of 15.5" long is an approximation. It measures .6" wide, and the width is uniform, all the way to the disguised, shovel clasp at the back. ~ Signed on both ends "CINER". c. 1970, in near mint condition, with no scratches or chips to enamel! As heavenly as a stained glass window! Price = $465.00 a-c2, nex 3 Who was Ciner? |
