Kenneth J. Lane Diamond & Black Crystal Serpent Brooch NWS 7-1365 ~ Kenneth J. Lane has always loved to use snakes in his jewelry. The snake motif actually goes back thousands of years in the human history of ornamentation. For most human cultures throughout all time, snakes represent good fortune, opulence, rebirth, resurrection and immortality. Most snakes are not poisonous and nature has decorated them with beautiful markings. They have always captured our imagination, and here, Kenneth has created a snake worthy of our attention! ~ Dozens upon dozens of the finest Swarovski crystals cover the snake's body. Sexy, midnight black, faceted crystals on one side, and dazzling, brilliant faux diamonds on the other. They have been set into thickly plated rhodium metal. ~ BUT! As if that wasn't enough, Lane has made the rest of the brooch in what is called "gun metal". This is a very dark, glossy metal, a thin line of which runs down the center of the snake's back. Very unusual! ~ This brooch measures 2.75" from nose to tip of tail, and 1.5" wide ~ Signed "KJL", on the reverse c. 1980 best guess, in perfect condition Price = $105.00 Who is Lane? |
