Daffodil Brooch of a Thousand Colored Mirrors NWS 7-1366 ~ Spring is my favorite time of year, and daffodils always make me think of Easter. I have an Easter "bonnet", but I don't often wear it because it flattens my hair. This brooch is a perfect alternative. Since it is quite substantial, it would be perfect on a coat, or on the lapel of an Easter suit, just like the corsage our grandmother used to wear... very festive for the season! And even if it's not spring, it will bring a smile to those who see you wear it, at any time of year. I always wear my flower brooches in the winter!~ I've never seen a brooch like this. The base appears to be made of plaster of paris, with a heavy coating of black lacquer. It is not flat, as you can see, but rises almost .5" above the surface, giving it a lifelike depth. ~ It is completely covered in faceted, crystals that have mirrored backs. It glitters as it catches and throws the light in a hundred different directions, in colors of green, white and an orangy topaz. The stones are even on the deep edges.~ The brooch measures a whopping 4.25" high and 2 3/8" wide!c. 1960, in excellent vintage condition, one or two tiny stones missing, but who could tell! Price = $95.00 b1 |
