Native American Masterpiece. NWS 7-1025 - Navaho artist, Albert Cleveland, is well known throughout the American southwest for his extraordinary work. He's a master silversmith, and he makes museum quality sterling jewelry, with huge turquoise stones that can be worn by both men and women - This massive turquoise stone, shaped like the State of Nevada, comes from the famous Kingman Mine, known as "Kingman Lightning Turquoise" - This cuff weighs in at an amazing 217 grams. The turquoise is a work of art in itself and is just an absolutely beautiful blue, with black spiderweb matrix rock woven into the turquoise mineral - The inside length of the cuff measures 6 1/8" long; the opening at the back measures 1.75" long; the width is 3 7/8" wide, a whopper! The cuff can be slightly, and ever so gently, adjusted smaller, but ladies, please measure your wrist before purchasing. This is very big, and it is heavy! - The entire sterling band has been decorated with the Navaho symbols of the rising sun and half moon, incised into the sterling - On both sides of the cuff are eagles (or thunderbirds?), one looking up, the other down, protecting the wearer from "evil spirits" - The turquoise stone has been placed in a saw-tooth, bezel setting, and is surrounded by a rope-twisted strand of sterling - All around the turquoise are sterling silver balls of varying sizes representing raindrops, and here and there are curlicues of silver included in an asymmetrical fashion to offset the unusual shape of the stone - It's just a magnificent piece, and the only one like it in the world; this is truly an investment quality bracelet, an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind example of Native American artwork at its finest. - Impressed on the interior is "AJC" and "STERLING" c. 1980-90, in excellent condition Price = $1,425.00 |
