Trifari Sterling Vermeil Monkey Brooch

NWS 5-1496

~ As rare as can be, you probably won't find this fabulous brooch anywhere else. This is one of those Trifari designs that almost never reaches the market, for obvious reasons. Well,... if you owned it, would you want to part with it?

~ During World War II, costume jewelry designers were obliged to use sterling silver for their jewelry, as all other metals had been restricted for the war effort. This adorable monkey brooch has been plated with a soft gold vermeil.

~ This adorable, smiling monkey swings from his tail which is hooked over a golden branch with faux ruby flowers and faux diamond branches. The length of his tail is set with more faceted, faux diamonds.

~ His body and arms are also studded with tiny, clear rhinestones, and he has a wide "collar" of pavé-set, faux diamonds around his neck.

~ This famous monkey brooch measures 3" long and 1" wide.

~ It is signed "Trifari", with the crown logo above the "T", "Sterling" and "Pat. Pend.". It was designed by Trifari's top designer, Alfred Philippe.
