Hopi Inlaid Sterling & Turquoise Cuff

NWS 5-746

- The ceremonial dancer is depicted in coral, onyx, turquoise and shell, inlaid in a large mother-of-pearl oval plate

- Dozens upon dozens of teardrop turquoise stones comprise the "needlepoint" design, a famous and distinctive Hopi tradition; many of the stones show veins of darker minerals of the matrix rock from which the turquoise was mined

- All set in sterling silver, with strands of sterling rope-twisted wire  setting off each row of stones

- The inside circumference of the cuff is 5", with an additional 1.5" wide opening at the back

- At the front of the cuff, the large oval face of the cuff (mother-of pearl plus turquoise stones) measures just under 3" high and 2.5" wide

- The arms on either side taper down to .5" wide in the back

- Signed "VMB" on reverse

c. 1960 (best guess), in perfect condition, with no chipped or cracked stones

Price =  $395.00
