Panetta Art Moderne Faux Jade Necklace, Earrings & Ring Set NWS 3-996 ~ This is a spectacular set that commands attention! And if you like jewelry that is truly unique - and that no one else will be wearing - this is the set for you! Panetta jewelry is scarce, we all know that, but this set I have never seen before. ~ Starting with the dramatic necklace, what we have here are solid, rectangular bars of faux gold, and in between each of these bars are 1 or 2 marbleized, green, cylindrical beads, then more bars of gold, in an irregular pattern. Then, starting just below where it meets the collar bone, there are more of these faux jade beads that seem to radiate like the suns rays, again in an irregular pattern, yet symmetrically duplicated on both sides of the center. ~ The construction of this necklace is deceiving. It looks like the golden bars are individual links joined together, but in actuality, the bars are in segments that are hinged together, each to the next, forming a gentle curve. ~ If you hold the necklace up by one end, it doesn't hang down straight. The curvature is built into the design. This makes it difficult to measure its length. It is approximately 15" long, and fits comfortably at the base of the neck. The center measures 3.5" wide, and tapers to the ends. Despite its weight, it is remarkably comfortable to wear. ~ Necklace has a folding clasp, and is signed on the reverse "PANETTA" ~ The earrings measure 1 1/8" long, are clips and both are signed "PANETTA" ~ The ring is a size 6.5; it is the same gold and jade motif, except that it also has a diamond-shaped layer on the top of the faux jade that is covered with pavé-set, simulated diamonds; it is gold plated, and in one small area of the band, the plating is worn off; it is also signed "PANETTA". ~ Featured in the book, The Best of Costume Jewelry, by Nancy Schiffer, p. 125 c. late 1950's - 1960's, the necklace and earrings are in great condition, near mint!
