Whimsical Wishing Well Fur Clip NWS 15-1468 ~ I can remember as a small child, standing on my tippy toes to look down a wishing well. Make a wish, drop a penny in, and your dream will come true. How adorable is this fur clip!! ~ The base metal is what is called "pot emtal", and it has been plated in chromium, one of the 4 metals in the platinum family. ~ The wishing well has enameled details, all painted by hand. The roof is green, the roof posts are red, and the pully wheel is black. From the wheel, a silver bucket with red enameled details swings freely, suspended from a tiny silver chain which goes around the wheel and down into the well. ~ The front of the wishing well has red, blue and green enameled rocks on the black enamel background. ~ The roof rafters, and the front and back rims of the well are covered in pavé-set, faux diamonds.
~ This adorable fur clip measures 1.6" high and 1.1" wide. c. 1939, in excellent vintage condition, a few tiny rhinestones have mellowed a bit with age, and there is light wear in spots to enamel. I think it's the most adorable clip I've ever seen. Research: Featured in the book, American Costume Jewelry, by Brunialti & Brunialti, p. 217 & 219.
