Coro Fur Clip Blue Moonstone Grape Cluster With Ribbon Tie NWS 15-1147 ~ This is quintessential 1930's style: the bigger, the better! And why not participate in a little bit of costume extravagance? Don't forget, America was in the midst of a devastating depression in the 1930's. This fur clip is testimony to the American spirit: we may be down, ... but we're not out ~ This fur clip is a luscious cluster of grapes, except that grapes are faux moonstones, with a luminosity you won't believe! They're pale blue, crystal cabochons, in 3 different sizes, and they positively glow with a light that seems to come from deep inside ~ The moonstones have been prong set in rhodium plated metal, and are surrounded with tiny, silver beads, like dew in the morning sun - simply spectacular! ~ At the top of the clip is a large, metal ribbon that has been "tied" in a bow, with pale blue enamel and pavé-set, faceted rhinestones, set in the same silver metal ~ The clip measures 1.75" wide and just under 2.75" high ~ Signed "Coro" in upright script on the reverse, this is their earliest signature ~ Clip mechanism retains perfect snap and holds well c. 1930, in excellent vintage condition, all stones are original and perfect Research: This fabulous moonstone clip is quite famous and appears in several books. One reference is Vintage Jewelry 1920's - 1940's, by Leigh Leshner, p. 32 Price = $165.00 Who was Coro? 16
