1930's Art Moderne Chrome Bracelet

NWS  15-1214

~ A preliminary to the Art Deco era, Art Moderne design trend tended to place the emphasis and value upon the handwrought creations of the individual artist, rather than the "sameness" of the  mass produced items being stamped out during the "Machine Age"; this bracelet is a perfect example of the very popular Art Moderne era when hand made arts (or The Arts and Crafts Movement 1890-1920) were held in the highest esteem

~ Nevertheless, what was made reflected what was on the minds of Americans; aluminum had been discovered in 1855, but chrome was a relatively new material in 1900, and it became all the rage. In the 1930's, both in Europe and America, much jewelry was made from chrome and was all the rage! Chrome was new and it was different. It looked like sterling, but it never tarnished AND it was lighter in weight, thus more comfortable. AND, it was much less expensive than sterling.

~ This marvelous bracelet is a momento that harkens back to that era! It measures 7.25" long and, at its center, it measures 1.25" wide

~ It is completely artisan made - a one-of-a-kind piece - and features rows of "S" shaped loops that are chained together and that taper towards the ends~ The center contains a large purple dome of hollow, anodized metal, simulating a large gemstone

~ The clasp is a hook, with a loop at the opposing end

c. 1925-30, in great vintage condition; if you appreciate the unique,... if you value the one-of-a-kind work of art that defied mass production because of its intricacies, this piece belongs in your wardrobe and your collection!

Price = $177.00
