Vargas Art Deco "Shooting Star" Diamond & Gold Cuff Sold Thank You NWS 14 -1424 ~ Vargas designed and made jewelry in the American jewelry mecca: Providence, Rhode Island, where all the best costume jewelers conducted their business in the 1930's - 1950's. Vargas began producing high quality costume jewelry in 1945. In 1987, they ceased operations under that name, and were bought by Uncas, Inc. Vargas was known for their exquisite designs and use of the highest quality stones. They never produced in the quantities of, say, Trifari or Coro, so their pieces are harder to find. Also, the Vargas name wasn't in production as long. It's such fun to find something unusual! ~ This cuff bracelet has a spring-loaded hinge, so it opens easily to fit any size wrist, and closes for a snug but comfortable hold. ~ The body of the cuff has a basket weave design in a soft rose gold color. The edges are comprised of wide bands of highly polished yellow gold plating. ~ The shooting star motif is repeated on both arms of the bracelet. They are denoted with a large, oval cut, faux diamond, each of which have been prong-set into the goldtone metal. Each shooting star has a tail of 4 bands of flat metal, for a total of 8, all of which are covered in prong-set, faceted crystals. These stones are closest to the star, to simulate the bright trails extending out from behind, just like a shooting star, or comet, would have. ~ The bracelet measures approx. 3" wide at the top, and it narrows to a width of 1.1" at the hinge in the back. ~ Signed on the inside of the hinge, "Vargas". ~ In excellent vintage condition, a few of the stones have gained seniority status with a touch of graying over the years, but this factor simply let's us know that it isn't brand, spanking new. A stunning Art Deco piece! Price = $298.00Sold Thank You b 2, q-z |
