c. 1860 Hand-Painted Portrait on Porcelain, Precious Girl With Dove

NWS 13-901

- Isn't she lovely?  Doesn't this pretty young woman tug on your heart strings?

- There is absolutely nothing wrong with this portrait; what you see in the photo (on her sleeve) is reflection from the light; the painting is in perfect condition

- She wears a pink rose, symbol of love, in her chestnut brown, coifed hair

- She wears a midnight blue dress with a low cut neckline, which was the fashion in the 1860's, with white puffed sleeves

- Innocent and alluring, she poses in a half turn to the side

- She holds a white dove, the symbol of peace and harmony, in her hands

- The porcelain disc on which she has been painted is oval shaped, and has been bezel-set in a brass frame, with a rope-twisted strand of brass around the outer edge

- Brooch measures  2.25" high and 1 7/8" wide, and is about 3/8" thick

-The pin stem with "T" base and locking clasp works fine; it is a later addition, as was commonly done by 20th century heirs of antique jewelry, to modernize with safety mechanism and file the pin stem to a shorter length

Price = $522.00
