Trifari Sterling Vermeil Fur Clip, Black Knight Chess Piece, by Alfred Philippe NWS 11-1399 ~ The Black Knight Chess Piece Fur Clip is made of solid sterling silver, with black enamel, rhinestones and a soft gold vermeil plating. During World War II, costume jewelry designers were obliged to use sterling silver for their jewelry, as all other metals had been restricted for the war effort. ~ The Black Knight has a line of faceted, faux rubies that have been pavé-set around the pedestal base, and at the top of the pedestal is a rim of creamy white enamel, with a few missing spots of enamel. ~ At the base of the Knight's neck is a scroll motif that is studded with faceted, faux diamonds, and topped with 3 glass turquoise beads. ~ The Black Knight's main, forelock, ear, nose and eye are depicted in vermeil. ~ This adorable fur clip measures 1 5/8" high and 1" widest. The clip mechanism on the back has retained its "snap" for a perfect hold. ~ Signed TRIFARI with the crown logo above the "T" and also marked "STERLING" and "Des.Pat. No. 140855".
