1950 Shimmery Pale Blue Marquise Brooch by Sphinx

NWS 11-1210

~ If you like big and bold - jewelry that really makes a statement - then this fantastic brooch is for you! It has so much fire power that it was quite difficult to photograph. All of the crystals in this brooch are the same color - a rich, pale blue. As you turn it in your hand and look deep into the stones, you see flashes of a deeper, Montana blue that emanate from the depths of the stones, ... totally mesmerizing!

~ You may not be familiar with the jewelry company, Sphinx, but they made jewelry for many famous design houses, like Kenneth J. Lane, Saks Fifth Avenue, and others. They also made jewelry under their own name. Sphinx was in business from 1948 to 2000, and was a British company that made jewelry of high quality. Their jewelry has become quite collectible today, and judging by the example above, we can see why!

~ This awesome brooch is heavily plated in goldtone metal. There are 10 large marquises and 7 slightly smaller marquises. These stones all have open backs and are foiled. The foil is in mint condition!

~ The faceted chatons (rounds) at the top have been pavé set into what appears to be leaves. The brooch makes one think of a bunch of grapes!

~ It measures 3" high and just under 2" wide

~ A versatile brooch, it looks fabulous on a blue jean shirt, ... such fun! Or introduce a little class into your office with this pinned to your lapel.... And, it's perfect for an evening in a romantic little bistro, ... Make it an evening he'll remember!

c. 1950, in excellent condition, I replaced 1 of the tiniest stones that was missing

Price = $79.00
