Haskell-like Beaded Festoons Necklace NWS 11-1175 ~ There must be over a thousand red glass seed beads in this fantastic necklace. It is just stupendous! ~ These red beads aren't round, they're actually oblong, just one of the unusual aspects of this work of art ~ Do you see the rope-like strands that the red beads are strung on? That's not rope, those are hundreds of tiny golden beads that have been engraved on the bias, so they look like golden rope, but the deception is revealed! ~ The beads are all strung onto over one hundred, gold plated, brass "links" that are hooked to one another on the underside, and each golden link slightly overlaps the next ~ The clasp is a brass barrel clasp that screws together, and it is engraved in a shell pattern, so lovely! The "swags" of beads continue all the way around to the clasp ~ Measures 16" long and 1.75" wide c. 1920-30, best guess, in excellent vintage condition, with no loss of beads, no verdigris on the brass, ready to wear! Price = $685.00 |
