c. 1860 Hand-Painted Porcelain Earrings NWS 11-832 ~ These adorable early earrings were hand-painted on porcelain; possibly these are twin sisters ~ The are bezel-set in brass ~ The backs were converted probably at the turn of the century to screw-on earrings instead of French wires for pierced, but they could easily be changed again ~ A tiny brass ball is suspended from the bottom of each frame ~ The earring on the left has a twisted brass wire around the setting, while the one on the right is missing ~ What is truly remarkable is there are no scratches to the surface of these delicate portraits; it's as if they were packed away safely for 150 years and never touched; amazingly, the portraits are in perfect condition! c. 1860 Price = $195.00 |
