Marcel Boucher Eagle Masterpiece

on Hold

NWS 11-1393

~ WOW! This brooch will take your breath away! It is impressive, gloriously large, and it makes a bold statement. I don't know if Marcel Boucher meant this to be his rendition of an American Eagle, our national symbol, but whatever he intended, his creation is superb. Anyone could wear this just as a magnificent brooch, or they could wear it as a bejeweled statement of patriotism. The Fourth of July comes to mind. Or any event one attends who wants to support our troops and our country.

This is an important historical piece. It is certainly meant to be decorative, but also it is meant to convey the aura of grace and power.  I have seen Senate members who have tired of wearing American Flag pins, donning more important pieces on their lapels, such as this Boucher Eagle. Whether you're going to a party fund raiser, or just going to the opera, this brooch is an extraordinary piece that no one else will be wearing, and everyone else will be admiring. I can guarantee you that!

~ So,... what makes this brooch so great? Yes, it was made by a Master. But what other factors set it above the rest? Answer: this beautiful brooch was made back in the days before hand labor cost a fortune.   Nowadays, everything is machine stamped, stones are machine cut.... But there were some old Masters who, when they designed a piece, knew it would involve an extraordinary amount of hand work, like this eagle brooch, and they didn't care. The art was the focus. Mind you, each and every feather on this eagle has been hand-painted with 3 different melon shades red, orange and yellow. After each enamel coat was applied, it had to be baked in the oven, then the next coat would be applied, again, by hand. This process took three times for each and every feather, just for this one brooch! .... But it didn't stop there!

~ The Boucher Eagle has been studded with hundreds of pavé-set, faceted, faux diamonds,... crystals of the finest quality the world has to offer. Every single stone was cut by hand, then lovingly set in place by hand. My Heavens, imagine the work involved!! A few of the stones have mellowed a bit, but who could care? Vintage collectors love the well earned patina and wouldn't change a single stone!

~ The base metal of this incredible work of art has been thickly plated with rhodium, making this brilliant brooch look like platinum. His beak has been painted with black enamel.

~ The brooch measures 3.75" high and 3" wide.

~ Signed with Boucher's phrygian cap logo on the reverse of the upper wing tip (his older marks can be hard to find).

c. 1937, in excellent vintage condition, and all original.
