Marcel Boucher Masterpiece. NWS 10-1240 ~ Sometimes a set of jewelry comes along that just takes your breath away. To hold this necklace in your hands and behold the genius and beauty of its design is to experience pure joy. An ocean of deep blue sapphire cabochons are gently drapped in swags around the outer edge of the necklace, forming a scalloped design. And like the crisp white froth of ocean waves, there are literally hundreds of faceted, pavé-set, faux diamond chatons and baguettes surrounding the sapphire crystals. Incomparable! ~ These 39 faux sapphires are absoutely brilliant and have a depth of color that the camera simply couldn't begin to capture! Each cabochon is shaped as a tear drop, and each has been lovingly prong-set, by hand, into its rhodium plated setting. ~ The matching earrings are screw backs and could easily be changed to clips. They contain the same design elements as the matching necklace. Each earring features one large, tear drop sapphire, with dozens of pavé-set, faceted, clear crystals at the top, also set in rhodium. They dangle 1.75" long. ~ The necklace measures 14.75" long and has an extender to 15.5" long. The necklace has a jewel-covered, folding clasp and there are 2 rings in the extension chain, so that you can chose the length you want. You could also add a hook and make it even longer, because the jewel-studded extension chain is almost 3" long! ~ The necklace is signed "Boucher" and "6699". Research: This famous set is featured in many jewelry books. My favorite book is Angie Gordon's, Twentieth Century Costume Jewellery.
