Coppola e Toppo Beaded Pinwheel Necklace & Earrings Set Sold Thank You NWS 1-1272 ~ Absolutely incredible, this necklace and earrings set out-dazzles the sunset! It combines all the luscious, vibrant sunset colors of tangerine, hot pink, pale pink, fuchsia, apple red and clear crystal - a dynamite combination! ~ In order to keep their jewelry from being uncomfortably heavy, Coppola e Toppo frequently used a combination of plastic and solid crystal beads. But being the masters of illusion, of course, they selected the very best quality beads and they all look like very rich, substantial lead crystal. ~ The necklace has a clear, crystal bead base, made of hundreds of beads that have been woven together (mind you, all sewn together by hand!) to form the foundation of the bib. ~ On top of the clear crystals, is the top layer, comprised of 6 colored strands of beads as follows: crystal strands of red, tangerine and clear beads, and the other 3 strands are plastic beads in 3 shades of pink. ~ The ends of the beaded necklace terminate in heart-shaped, goldtone metal plaques, with dozens of faceted beads sewn into clusters on their tops (see 2nd photo above). ~ The necklace measures 3.25” wide at the center; measures 15” long, with goldtone hook clasp and beaded extension chain, adjustable to 17" long. ~ Earrings are clips and have the same combination of beads as the necklace. They measure almost 2" across! ~ All three pieces are signed "Made in Italy Coppola e Toppo" Research: Twentieth Century Costume Jewellery, by Angie Gordon, p. 111; 1990 value given $2,500-$3,000 for necklace alone! c. 1960, in perfect condition, luscious, outrageous and one in a million!
